Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, is gearing up for its theatrical release on April 17, with paid previews scheduled a day earlier. The film, initially slated to hit cinemas on April 10, was postponed by a week following the strong box office performance of Dhurandhar 2.
The upcoming horror-comedy has generated considerable buzz, largely due to the reunion of Akshay Kumar with director Priyadarshan after a gap of 15 years. Their previous collaborations have delivered several popular films, raising expectations among audiences. The film is also being compared to Bhool Bhulaiyaa in terms of its comedic-horror appeal. Trade analysts believe the film could open strongly at the box office, aided by the lack of recent family entertainers in the Hindi film market. The inclusion of paid previews is expected to give an additional boost to its opening day collections. However, the film faces stiff competition in breaking the paid preview record set by Stree 2, which earned ₹9.4 crore during its previews. Limited show timings, expected to begin around 9 pm, may restrict its overall preview collections. Despite the challenges, strong advance buzz and potential premium ticket pricing could help Bhooth Bangla come close to the record, making its opening performance closely watched by industry observers.
