Divya Delhi : The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that 3.7 million children in Afghanistan are at an increased risk of malnutrition in 2026, highlighting the country’s worsening humanitarian crisis. The agency said prolonged economic hardship, food insecurity, climate-related challenges, and limited access to healthcare continue to threaten the lives of millions of children. According to UNICEF, many families are struggling to secure adequate nutrition due to rising poverty and shrinking humanitarian resources. The organization stressed that without sustained international support and funding, the number of children suffering from acute malnutrition could continue to rise. UNICEF urged the global community to step up humanitarian assistance to ensure vulnerable children receive life-saving nutrition, healthcare, and essential services. The agency emphasized that early intervention is critical to preventing long-term health complications and reducing child mortality. The warning comes as humanitarian organizations continue to raise concerns over Afghanistan’s fragile economic situation and the growing needs of children and families across the country.
