SUV Traced in Alleged Harassment Case Involving Hindu College Students in Delhi

DIVYA DELHI : A white SUV allegedly involved in the harassment of two Hindu College students in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar has been traced, police said on Friday. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night, September 23, when the two students were walking near Hakikat Park at around 9:30 pm. According to the complaint, the men inside the SUV allegedly passed inappropriate comments at the students. When the women objected, the men allegedly abused them and followed them in the vehicle. The students said that when they attempted to record the incident, the men stopped and allegedly tried to pull them into the SUV. The group reportedly fled after one of the women’s friends began recording the vehicle. Police registered an FIR at Mukherjee Nagar police station under Sections 78, 79 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to stalking, insulting the modesty of a woman and common intention. Police identified the driver as Naman, a Delhi University student, and said two to three others were allegedly travelling with him. Police are also examining the students’ allegation that they approached multiple police stations before the complaint was registered. The investigation is underway.
