After Cockroach Janata Party, ‘Lal Hit Janata Party’ Takes Shape in Delhi

DIVYA DELHI : A new pressure group named the ‘Lal Hit Janata Party’ has emerged in Delhi as a counter to the ongoing activities of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The group held its first membership gathering at Malviya Smriti Bhawan on Sunday, where its leaders outlined their plans and criticised the CJP’s protests. Led by Ayan Bhatnagar, the group said it has been formed with the stated objective of protecting democracy and opposing what it described as attempts to undermine constitutional institutions. The CJP has been holding protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Addressing the gathering, Bhatnagar criticised the CJP’s demonstrations, alleging that they were affecting businesses and creating distrust towards institutions such as the Election Commission and the police. He also questioned how protests could lead to a change in government and argued that political demands should follow constitutional mechanisms. The unusual name of the new outfit is being seen as a satirical response to the CJP’s name. The group has also urged people to move beyond social media discussions and participate directly in public debates and activities. The formation of the Lal Hit Janata Party adds another dimension to the ongoing political and protest activity in Delhi, with both sides presenting sharply contrasting views on democracy, constitutional institutions and public mobilisation.
