DIVYA DELHI : In a major breakthrough, Ghaziabad Police have busted an alleged interstate child trafficking racket that targeted economically vulnerable families and facilitated the sale of newborn children across several states. Police have arrested multiple accused and rescued an infant girl who was allegedly abducted as part of the operation. According to investigators, the syndicate operated across Delhi-NCR and identified financially distressed families expecting children. The accused allegedly lured parents with money and gathered information through a network of agents before arranging the illegal sale of newborns to buyers in different parts of the country. The case came to light after an infant girl was allegedly kidnapped from her home and handed over to members of the trafficking network. Acting on intelligence inputs, CCTV footage, and local surveillance, Tronica City Police rescued the child and arrested several suspects involved in the racket. Police said the gang planned to transport the baby to Andhra Pradesh, where she was to be sold to a couple. Investigations have revealed that the network allegedly sold newborns across India, with many buyers located in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Three more accused — identified as Tarannum (29), Anil Lakda (33), and Karun (49) — were arrested on Friday as the investigation widened. Police said the accused used WhatsApp to coordinate deals and routinely deleted messages after transactions were completed. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify additional members of the network and trace other possible victims linked to the trafficking operation.
