Divya Delhi:
The Delhi High Court has directed city police to remove unauthorised videos of court proceedings involving Arvind Kejriwal that were circulated on social media. The directive comes after clips surfaced showing the AAP chief arguing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in connection with the excise policy case. Court authorities reiterated that recording or sharing proceedings without prior permission is strictly prohibited under existing rules. A senior official confirmed that the court administration has asked the Delhi Police to take immediate steps to identify and remove such content across platforms. The official added that similar action has been taken in past instances where court rules were violated. The move follows a formal complaint submitted to the Registrar General regarding the April 13, 2026 hearing. According to the complaint, Kejriwal appeared in person to argue a plea seeking the recusal of Justice Sharma from matters related to the excise policy case. It also alleged that multiple video and audio clips were deliberately recorded and widely shared, including by political figures, potentially misrepresenting court proceedings and influencing public perception. Citing provisions under video conferencing and electronic evidence rules, the complaint urged strict action, warning that such violations could undermine the dignity of the judiciary and public trust in the legal system.
