DIVYA DELHI : Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Delhi have been increased by Rs 3.89 per kg, pushing the latest retail price close to the Rs 87-per-kg mark. The price revision is expected to increase the running costs of CNG-powered cars, taxis, auto-rickshaws and other commercial vehicles across the national capital. The latest hike comes as a concern for commuters and transport operators who rely on CNG as a relatively economical fuel option. Auto and taxi drivers, in particular, could face higher operating expenses following the increase, which may also put pressure on fares if fuel costs remain elevated. CNG has traditionally been preferred by many Delhi motorists because of its comparatively lower running cost and cleaner-burning properties than conventional petrol and diesel. However, repeated price revisions can affect household transportation budgets as well as the cost of commercial mobility. With the new rates nearing Rs 87 per kg, consumers are likely to keep a close watch on further changes in CNG prices. The latest increase could also renew discussions around fuel affordability and transportation costs in the capital.
