Commercial LPG rate hiked by ₹195, jet fuel price doubled to ₹2 lakh

State-run oil marketing companies in India have announced a sharp increase in the prices of commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), reflecting ongoing global energy supply disruptions. The hike, implemented on Wednesday, impacts key sectors including hospitality and aviation The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been raised by ₹195.50, taking the cost in Delhi from ₹1,883 to ₹2,078.50, a rise of over 10%. This marks the second increase within a month, following a ₹114.50 hike on March 7. Commercial LPG is widely used by hotels, restaurants, and catering services, and the repeated price hikes are expected to increase operational costs across the sector. On the same day in March, domestic LPG cylinder prices (14.2 kg) were also increased by ₹60 nationwide, pushing the retail price in Delhi to ₹913, the highest since August 2023. Meanwhile, ATF prices have witnessed a dramatic surge. For domestic airlines, rates in Delhi jumped from ₹96,638.14 per kilolitre to ₹207,341.22, marking a steep 114.55% increase. International ATF prices also rose significantly, from $816.91 to $1,690.81 per kilolitre, reflecting a 107% hike. The fuel market in India is primarily controlled by Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, all of which implemented the revisions.
