Bihar Temple Tragedy: Six Dead After Stampede-Like Incident, Officials Say.

DIVYA DELHI : six people were killed and several others injured after a stampede-like situation broke out at the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday, according to officials cited in initial reports. The incident occurred as a large number of devotees gathered at the temple during the holy month of Sawan, when religious sites across the state witness heavy footfall. According to preliminary information, a sudden surge in the crowd triggered panic and chaos near the temple premises. Reports suggest that barricades may have collapsed as the gathering became increasingly crowded. There were also reports of panic following rumours linked to an electrical pole, although authorities are yet to establish the exact cause of the incident. Emergency personnel and local authorities rushed to the spot following the incident. The injured were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while officials began managing the situation and assessing the circumstances that led to the tragedy. A detailed investigation is expected to determine the precise sequence of events and identify any possible lapses in crowd management. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety and crowd-control arrangements at major religious gatherings in India.
