Divya Delhi : South Korea is bracing for a prolonged spell of extreme heat, with the ongoing heat wave expected to continue through next week, according to the country’s weather authorities. Temperatures have climbed close to 40°C in several areas, while heat warnings remain in force across much of the country. The Korea Meteorological Administration has warned of particularly dangerous conditions in parts of the southern regions, where temperatures and heat indexes are reaching potentially hazardous levels. On July 29, Yangsan recorded 40.3°C, marking an exceptional July heat reading. The prolonged heat is also expected to bring tropical nights, when nighttime temperatures remain unusually high, increasing health risks and putting additional pressure on electricity demand as households rely heavily on air conditioning.
