PM Modi Urges Sonam Wangchuk to Focus on Recovery After 26-Day Hunger Strike

Divya Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk to regain his health after he ended his 26-day hunger strike. In his message, the Prime Minister appreciated the peaceful and democratic nature of the movement and expressed hope that Wangchuk would recover soon. Wangchuk had been observing the hunger strike to press for constitutional safeguards, environmental protection, and greater administrative accountability for Ladakh. He called off the fast after receiving assurances of continued dialogue with the government on the issues raised during the protest. The Prime Minister’s message came shortly after the announcement, highlighting the importance of constructive engagement while wishing Wangchuk a speedy recovery.
