New Delhi, Apr 16: India on Thursday issued its strongest diplomatic rebuke yet over the ongoing maritime crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the disruption of key shipping routes as “unacceptable” and a direct threat to global stability.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Ambassador Harish P stressed that the targeting of commercial vessels poses a serious risk to India’s national energy security. He noted that the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical artery for global oil supplies, with significant portion of India’s crude imports passing through the region“The deliberate endangerment of civilian maritime traffic cannot be justified under any circumstances,” the ambassador said, calling foimmediate de-escalation and adherence to international maritime law.India also expressed concern over the human cost of the crisis, confirming that Indian seafarers have been among those affected.
