Divya Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday appointed Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the central observer to oversee the election of its legislative party leader in Bihar, signalling the start of government formation in the state. The move comes after former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transitioned to the Rajya Sabha, paving the way for a new leadership arrangement. The announcement was made by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh, who said Chouhan would supervise the selection process. Earlier, Sanjay Kumar Jha, national working president of the Janata Dal (United), indicated that the formation of the new government would begin after April 13. He made the remarks after meeting Nitish Kumar in Patna. Senior leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, are being seen as potential contenders for the chief minister’s post, although both the BJP and its NDA allies have not disclosed any names officially. According to party sources, the new Chief Minister will be elected by NDA legislators based on the BJP’s recommendation. The date for the NDA legislature party meeting is yet to be announced. Nitish Kumar, who recently took oath as a Rajya Sabha member, ended his long tenure in Bihar politics, marking a significant political transition in the state.
