PM Modi Vows to End ‘Appeasement Politics’, Promises UCC in West Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the BJP would put an end to “appeasement politics” in West Bengal and ensure that Bengalis do not become a minority in their own state. Addressing a public rally in Jangipur, located in the Muslim-majority Murshidabad district, he outlined key promises ahead of the upcoming elections. Modi emphasised that the party would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state if voted to power, calling it a crucial step towards ensuring equality and justice. He said the BJP’s election manifesto, released by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, serves as a roadmap to end what he termed as “Mahajungleraj” under the rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Targeting the ruling party, Modi accused it of abandoning its earlier slogan of “Maa-Mati-Manush” and relying on vote-bank politics. He further alleged that the state government had failed to act firmly in incidents such as the RG Kar rape and murder case, raising concerns over law and order. Calling the election a decisive battle to protect West Bengal’s identity, the Prime Minister claimed that rapid demographic changes were taking place in parts of the state. He asserted that national security remains a top priority and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to governance focused on development and accountability.
