The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory urging its nationals in Iran to “expeditiously exit” the country amid growing security concerns. The advisory comes as tensions escalate in the region, creating uncertainty for foreign nationals. In its statement, the Indian Embassy in Tehran emphasized that citizens should leave Iran using the evacuation routes provided by the mission. The Embassy strongly cautioned against attempting to cross any international land border without prior consultation and coordination, noting that independent movements could lead to logistical and legal complications. The advisory specifically targets Indian students, tourists, businesspersons, and pilgrims currently in Iran, advising them to maintain close communication with the Embassy. Citizens are encouraged to register with the mission and follow official guidance to ensure a safe and orderly departure. Emergency helpline numbers have been shared to assist those seeking immediate evacuation. Government officials stated that the advisory reflects India’s continued commitment to the safety and security of its citizens abroad. While temporary measures such as ceasefires have been reported in the region, authorities highlighted that the situation remains volatile, and risks persist for individuals attempting uncoordinated travel. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed that coordinated evacuation is the safest approach and urged all Indians in Iran to act promptly, follow Embassy instructions, and avoid any movements toward international borders without authorization. With the fresh advisory, India reiterates its focus on proactive diplomacy and citizen protection, emphasizing the importance of following official channels during times of conflict.
