DIVYA DELHI : Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has received a final opportunity from the Supreme Court to comply with its order in a series of cheque-bounce cases linked to a financial dispute with Murli Projects Pvt. Ltd. The Supreme Court had earlier directed Yadav to deposit ₹5 crore with its Registry as a condition for exemption from surrendering to serve his sentence. When the deadline approached, his lawyer sought additional time, telling the court that the actor was struggling to arrange the money and needed some breathing space.The plea drew a sharp response from Chief Justice Surya Kant, who questioned whether the court could rely on Yadav’s assurances given his previous conduct in the matter. Despite its concerns, the bench granted him another two weeks as a “last opportunity.” The court also directed Yadav to submit his passport and extended his protection from surrender until October 5, when the matter will be heard again. The case stems from a financial dispute connected to a film project and several dishonoured cheques. Yadav is challenging his conviction and three-month jail sentence in the Supreme Court.
