Divya Delhi : The West Bengal government has announced that it will conduct an anti-tobacco awareness programme in every school across the state to discourage students from using tobacco products and promote a healthier lifestyle. The initiative aims to educate students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption, including smoking and smokeless tobacco products. School authorities, teachers, healthcare professionals, and officials from relevant departments will participate in awareness sessions, interactive workshops, and campaigns designed to prevent tobacco addiction among children and adolescents. State officials said the programme is part of the government’s broader public health strategy to reduce tobacco use and protect young people from developing addictive habits at an early age. Educational institutions will also encourage students to spread awareness among their families and communities about the dangers of tobacco. The government believes that early intervention through schools can play a crucial role in preventing addiction and fostering long-term healthy habits among the youth.
