Three Former TMC Rajya Sabha MPs Join BJP in Kolkata, Dealing Political Setback to Mamata Banerjee

Divya Delhi : Kolkata, July 11: In a political setback for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, three former Rajya Sabha members of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kolkata on Friday. The move comes ahead of key political developments in the state and is expected to strengthen the BJP’s organisational presence. The leaders were inducted into the BJP in the presence of senior party functionaries at the party’s state headquarters. BJP leaders welcomed the former MPs, saying their experience would help expand the party’s reach in West Bengal, while the TMC has not yet issued a detailed response to the development. The defections are being viewed as a significant political development, reflecting the continuing rivalry between the BJP and the ruling TMC in the state.
