Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay Writes to PM Modi, Opposes Proposed Amendment to Food Security Act

DFivya Delhi : Chennai, July 7 Joseph Vijay has written to Narendra Modi opposing the Centre’s proposed amendment to the Food Security Act, expressing concern that the changes could affect the rights and welfare of beneficiaries under the existing food distribution system In his letter, the Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to reconsider the proposed amendment, stating that any changes to the law should safeguard the interests of economically weaker sections and ensure uninterrupted access to subsidised food grains. He also called for wider consultations with state governments before implementing any amendment. The proposed changes have sparked political debate, with the Tamil Nadu government maintaining that the current provisions of the Food Security Act are vital for protecting food security and supporting vulnerable families
