Divya Delhi : The Supreme Court has reiterated that failing to report cases of child sexual abuse is a punishable offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court observed that individuals, including school authorities, have a legal duty to inform the police if they become aware of such offences. The observation came while hearing a case involving the alleged non-reporting of child sexual abuse. The court stressed that prompt reporting is essential to protect children and ensure timely investigation.
