Divya Delhi : Climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike on Friday after receiving assurances of continued engagement from the government on issues concerning Ladakh. Wangchuk had launched the indefinite fast to press for constitutional safeguards, environmental protection, and greater administrative accountability for the Union Territory. During the protest, he urged the Centre to address demands related to the protection of Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem, local identity, and governance. His hunger strike drew support from civil society groups, students, and environmental activists across the country. After discussions and assurances regarding further dialogue on the key issues, Wangchuk announced the end of his fast while reiterating that the movement for Ladakh’s rights would continue through peaceful and democratic means.
