DIVYA DELHI : The University of Delhi has suspended a PhD student of its Faculty of Law following an alleged slapping incident involving a professor, triggering disciplinary action by the university authorities. According to reports, the incident took place at the Faculty of Law and involved a confrontation between the student and the faculty member. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the university administration, which initiated action against the student in accordance with institutional disciplinary procedures. The suspension is understood to be a preliminary administrative measure while the circumstances surrounding the incident are examined. University authorities are expected to assess statements and other available information before deciding on any further action. The incident has drawn attention to concerns surrounding discipline, student-faculty relations and maintaining a safe and respectful academic environment on campus. Educational institutions generally emphasise that disagreements should be addressed through established grievance-redressal mechanisms rather than through physical confrontation.
