DIVYA DELHI : Uday Bhanu Chib, National President of the Indian Youth Congress, was arrested after nearly 15 hours of questioning in connection with a shirtless protest during the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam. Chib was questioned at Tilak Marg police station, where officials alleged that he did not cooperate and attempted to mislead investigators. Police sources claimed they have sufficient evidence against him. He will be produced in court. This marks the eighth arrest in the case. The protest drew sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla calling it “characterless, brainless and emotionless” and accusing the Congress of undermining India’s progress. He said the summit had received global praise from leaders and tech figures, including Emmanuel Macron, United Nations Secretary-General, Sam Altman, Sundar Pichai and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. The Youth Congress defended the protest as peaceful, saying it aimed to highlight concerns about a “compromised” prime minister. National General Secretary Sheh Narayan Ojha said the demonstration sought to draw attention to government issues and denied causing any harm. The AI Summit has been widely praised internationally, even as the protest sparked political controversy at home.
