NEW DELHI : In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Delhi Police inspector in connection with an alleged Rs.3 crore bribery case. The agency is also investigating the role of a senior public servant suspected to be linked to the corruption network.
According to officials, the accused inspector allegedly demanded and accepted a huge bribe in exchange for extending illegal favours and influencing official proceedings. Acting on specific inputs, the CBI carried out a planned operation and arrested the officer while probing the financial transactions related to the case.
Sources revealed that the investigation has widened, with the agency now examining the involvement of other officials and middlemen. The senior public servant under scrutiny is believed to have played a key role in facilitating the alleged deal.
The CBI has conducted searches at multiple locations to gather documentary and digital evidence. Officials said several important documents, electronic devices, and financial records have been seized during the raids.
The arrested inspector is expected to be produced before a special court, while further interrogation and investigation are underway. The case has once again raised concerns over corruption within public institutions and misuse of official authority.
