Divya Delhi : Jaipur July 16 The Rajasthan High Court has permitted two prisoners serving life sentences to solemnise their marriage at the Jodhpur Open Jail, recognising their right to marry under constitutional protections. The court directed prison authorities to make the necessary arrangements in accordance with prison rules and applicable legal procedures. The case was filed after the couple sought permission to marry while serving their sentences. The High Court observed that imprisonment does not take away a person’s fundamental right to marry, provided legal requirements are fulfilled. The ruling is being seen as a significant step in protecting the rights and dignity of prisoners while balancing prison administration and legal safeguards.
