DIVYA DELHI : A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, August 10, triggering widespread panic, heavy damage and a major emergency response across the country. The earthquake was centered near San José del Palmar in the Chocó region, and strong tremors were felt across several cities, including Cali, Pereira, Armenia and Manizales. The powerful shaking caused buildings and other infrastructure to collapse or sustain serious damage, with hospitals, schools and homes among the affected structures. Airports in the region were also shaken, prompting inspections and temporary operational disruptions as authorities assessed possible structural damage. Dramatic videos circulating online showed passengers and airport staff reacting in fear as the ground and terminal structures shook violently.
