DIVYA DIVYA : The Pune police have registered two separate FIRs against BJP and Congress members following violent clashes over remarks by Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal, who compared Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with Tipu Sultan. The violence broke out near Congress Bhavan on Sunday when BJP workers protested Sapkal’s comments. Congress activists were also present, leading to stone-pelting, scuffles, and sloganeering. Nine people, including party workers, two police personnel, and two journalists, were injured. Police booked local leaders and workers from both parties under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to unlawful assembly, causing hurt, and mischief. FIRs name BJP city unit president Dheeraj Ghate and Congress city president Arvind Shinde among others. The clashes come amid heightened tensions after a row over a Tipu Sultan portrait in Malegaon.
