Divya Delhi : The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has alleged that Tamil Nadu has lost nearly 700 affordable MBBS seats due to the conversion of certain medical colleges into deemed universities. The party claimed that the move has significantly reduced access to low-cost medical education for aspiring doctors. According to PMK, the conversion has altered the admission process and fee structure of the affected institutions, limiting the number of seats available under government quotas. The party argued that this has increased the financial burden on students, particularly those from economically weaker sections seeking medical education. PMK urged the state and central governments to take corrective measures to safeguard affordable medical seats and ensure that deserving students are not deprived of opportunities due to rising education costs.
