DIVYA DELHI : PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, AFS Hindon, organised a one-day training programme on “Integrating Values in Education for Holistic Development of Students” with the objective of promoting holistic development, value-based education and strong character formation among students. The programme was organised in collaboration with the Vivekananda Institute of Values, Ramakrishna Mission, Gurugram. Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, Avonleigh University, USA, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while renowned journalist and author Ms. Neelima Thakur was the Guest of Honour. The presence of both distinguished guests added special significance and dignity to the programme and provided students and teachers with an opportunity to explore the broader dimensions of education, values and personality development. In his inspiring address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Chauhan emphasised that the purpose of education is not merely to acquire academic or bookish knowledge, but to develop strong, compassionate and responsible individuals who can utilise their knowledge for the welfare of society and the nation. He encouraged students to make integrity, discipline, compassion, responsibility and service an integral part of their daily lives. He observed that “Value-based education enables an individual not merely to become successful, but to lead a meaningful life.”Addressing the students, he urged them to dream big, remain committed to their goals, continue learning throughout life and understand their responsibilities towards society. He also congratulated Principal Shri Anil Kumar Jain and the entire school community for undertaking this meaningful initiative, emphasising that the balanced development of knowledge, values and character is what makes education truly complete. The gracious presence of Guest of Honour Ms. Neelima Thakur, a distinguished journalist and author, further enriched the programme. Her association with journalism and literature highlighted the importance of effective expression, sensitivity, social awareness and positive thinking, offering valuable perspectives to the students. The primary objective of the programme was to nurture essential life values such as respect, compassion, honesty, responsibility, discipline and service, while preparing students to become sensitive, responsible and committed citizens of the nation. The programme, conducted under the visionary leadership and inspiring guidance of Principal Shri Anil Kumar Jain, strongly reflected the school’s commitment to value-based and quality education. Under his leadership, the school continues to give equal importance to students’ academic growth as well as their character, values and overall personality development. Vice-Principal Ms. Shilpi Singh played an important role in making the programme effective through her active support, positive approach and efficient coordination. Her contribution continues to strengthen a collaborative work culture and a vibrant academic environment within the school. Headmistress Mrs. Rachna Tyagi, through her compassionate guidance and educational leadership, further enriched the spirit of the programme and contributed significantly towards the holistic development of students. Her efforts have helped make values, संस्कार and sensitivity an integral part of education at the primary level. Special contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme and its academic activities was made by Mr. Abhishek Kumar, TGT Sanskrit. His efforts encouraged the integration of Indian knowledge traditions, cultural values and ethical principles with students’ everyday lives. Similarly, Ms. Neha Rana, PRT, contributed actively through her sensitive teaching approach and dedicated engagement with students, helping make the programme more meaningful and impactful. Ms. Priyam Pushkin Bansal, PRT, also played a significant role through her creative approach, enthusiastic participation and commitment to value-based education. During the programme, special emphasis was laid on the fact that the true purpose of education is not merely to impart knowledge, but to develop individuals who are honest, disciplined, compassionate, responsible and socially sensitive. Value-based education equips students to face the challenges of life with confidence, wisdom and a positive outlook. The school community described the initiative as a meaningful step towards creating a harmonious blend of knowledge, values and character building. The programme conveyed the important message that today’s students are the nation-builders of tomorrow, and that nurturing them with excellent education along with strong human values is a collective responsibility. At the conclusion of the programme, students and teachers were inspired by the timeless message of Swami Vivekananda — “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached.” They were encouraged to continue striving for excellence while embracing the ideals of service, values and nation-building. The training programme was not merely an educational event but a meaningful and inspiring initiative to connect knowledge with values, education with character, and personality development with the spirit of national service**. It left a lasting impression on the students and teachers and reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible, compassionate and value-driven citizens.
