DIVYA DELHI : In a historic first, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at the Northeast’s first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on a 4.2-km stretch of highway in Moran, Assam, on Saturday. The ₹100-crore facility enables the Indian Air Force to operate fighter jets and transport aircraft during emergencies and serves as an alternative to Dibrugarh airport for civil and military use. PM Modi witnessed a 40-minute Indian Air Force aerial display, featuring Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Rafale jets, An-32 transport aircraft, Advanced Light Helicopters, and precision demonstrations by Garud Commandos. The facility is designed to strengthen defense, logistics, and disaster response in the region. During his day-long visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated development projects worth over ₹5,500 crore and attended public rallies. He was received by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and other senior officials.
