Pakistan’s Semi-Final Hopes Hanging by a Thread After Loss to India

DIVYA DELHI : Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign is in serious danger after a crushing 61-run defeat to the India national cricket team in Group A. India, already through to the Super Eights with three wins in three matches, posted 175/7 riding on Ishan Kishan’s 77, with support from Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube. In reply, the Pakistan national cricket team collapsed to 13/3 and were bowled out for 114, despite Usman Khan’s 44. The defeat leaves Pakistan third in the group with four points — level with USA but behind on net run rate after USA’s win over Namibia. Head coach Mike Hesson admitted the loss was disappointing. “There’s a pretty disappointed dressing room… today we got outplayed,” he said. Pakistan must now beat Namibia in their final group match to stay in contention. A loss would eliminate them, while a washout could still keep their Super Eight hopes alive depending on other results.
