Divya Delhi : In a major drive against illegal arms and organised crime, the Rohini District Police conducted ‘Operation Shastra’, a district-wide enforcement campaign that resulted in the arrest of 46 accused and the recovery of 19 country-made pistols, 26 live cartridges, nine button-actuated knives and one stolen motorcycle. The operation was carried out on July 14 and 15 under the supervision of senior Delhi Police officers. Around 210 police personnel, divided into 15 teams, carried out simultaneous raids and intensive checking across the district to target criminals involved in illegal arms possession, street crime and organised criminal activities. During the operation, police raided 106 locations, inspected 101 parks, removed illegal black films from 60 vehicles, and verified nearly 400 history-sheeters. The drive also led to the arrest of eight active history-sheeters and one proclaimed offender, while 23 other individuals were placed under preventive legal action. Police registered 24 cases under the Arms Act, leading to the seizure of illegal firearms and sharp weapons. Separate action under the Excise Act resulted in the recovery of 3,884 quarters of illicit liquor and one vehicle. Two people were arrested in NDPS Act cases, while six others were booked in Gambling Act cases. According to the Rohini District Police, the district has recovered 155 illegal firearms and 287 live cartridges so far this year, the highest recovery among all Delhi Police districts and units. Officials said the operation was aimed at disrupting the illegal arms supply chain, curbing organised crime and strengthening public safety across the district.
