DIVYA DELHI : A tense standoff between Nihang Sikhs and the Uttarakhand administration at the Uttarakhand–Himachal Pradesh border ended peacefully after overnight negotiations, with the group returning to Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh under police escort. The confrontation had escalated after a section of Nihang protesters breached police barricades at the Kulhal checkpoint in Vikasnagar while attempting to proceed towards Hemkund Sahib. Heavy security was deployed along the border to prevent any law-and-order issues. According to officials, the Nihangs called off their planned march after discussions with the administration. The protest was linked to the arrest of four Nihang members following a clash in Karnaprayag, Chamoli district, earlier this month. Protest leaders said they have temporarily suspended their agitation and are awaiting action on their demands. Authorities described the resolution as amicable and credited dialogue and cooperation from community representatives for restoring normalcy. However, security remains heightened in the region as officials continue to monitor the situation.
