Nepal Sounds Fresh Flood Alert After Reported Tibet Dam Breach.

DIVYA DELHI : Nepal has issued a fresh flood alert after authorities received reports that a water barrier on the Tibet side of the border had breached, raising fears of another surge in river levels in already devastated areas. Nepal Police urged security personnel, rescue teams, relief workers and residents in vulnerable areas to remain on high alert and immediately move to safer locations if required. The warning came as rescue operations were underway following catastrophic flash floods that have caused widespread destruction across Nepal’s northern districts. Authorities temporarily suspended some rescue activities amid concerns that additional water and debris could move downstream through river systems, including the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli. Residents living near riverbanks and in low-lying areas were advised to remain vigilant and follow official evacuation instructions. The latest warning has added to the challenges facing emergency teams, who are continuing search-and-rescue operations for people missing after the earlier floods. Officials are closely monitoring upstream water levels and conditions in the affected Himalayan region as they assess the risk of further flooding.
