A rare and cordial interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi at the Parliament complex has drawn widespread attention, with a video of the exchange going viral on social media. The two leaders were among several dignitaries who gathered to pay tribute to social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on his 200th birth anniversary. The occasion saw the presence of key political figures, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers JP Nadda and Arjun Ram Meghwal. According to sources, during the brief interaction, Prime Minister Modi enquired about the health of Sonia Gandhi, mother of Rahul Gandhi, who was recently hospitalised. Gandhi informed him that her condition is improving, to which the Prime Minister expressed relief and conveyed his best wishes. Sonia Gandhi had been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on March 24 due to a systemic infection and was discharged on March 31 after recovery. Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi described Mahatma Phule as a “guiding light,” highlighting his contributions to education, social reform, and welfare. He said Phule’s ideals remain highly relevant in today’s times and continue to inspire millions across the country.
