DIVYA DELHI : The Ministry of Home Affairs has released a new national counter-terror policy titled ‘PRAHAR’, outlining a comprehensive framework focused on prevention, rapid response, capacity building, and rule-of-law enforcement. The government said India remains firmly committed to a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism and does not link terror to any religion or identity. The strategy highlights concerns over evolving threats such as cross-border terrorism, sleeper cells, misuse of drones and encrypted technologies, cyber-attacks, and possible access to hazardous materials. It stresses intelligence-led operations, stronger inter-agency coordination, disruption of terror funding, and international cooperation. Authorities said agencies like the National Investigation Agency and National Security Guard will play key roles, while local police remain first responders. The policy also prioritizes counter-radicalization efforts through community engagement, education, and social initiatives to prevent recruitment into extremist networks.
