Health experts warn that reduced funding could affect access to life-saving antiretroviral therapy, HIV testing, prevention programs, and maternal healthcare services in many low- and middle-income countries. Organizations supported by US aid say they may be forced to scale back operations if funding is not renewed in time. The US has been one of the largest contributors to global HIV/AIDS efforts for decades through initiatives such as PEPFAR. Public health officials and advocacy groups are urging lawmakers to secure continued financial support to prevent setbacks in the global fight against HIV/AIDS and protect the health of millions of vulnerable people.
