DIVYA DELHI : February 15, 2026: Devotees across India are observing Maha Shivratri with deep faith and spiritual fervor. The festival, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is considered one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. Celebrated in the lunar month of Phalguna, Maha Shivratri marks the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to belief, prayers offered during the sacred ratri prahar are especially powerful and are said to wash away past karmas. Devotees are observing fasts and visiting temples in large numbers. Special rituals such as Rudra Abhishek are being performed, where the Shiva Linga is bathed with milk, honey, and Ganga jal, followed by offerings of bel leaves, dhatura, bhang, and seasonal fruits. Chanting of mantras and hymns continues throughout the night as many stay awake in devotion.
