Divya Delhi : Former India leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has strongly criticised spinners for bowling no-balls in T20 cricket, saying it is “a crime” considering the vast amount of experience players now have in the shortest format of the game. Speaking during a recent cricket discussion, Sivaramakrishnan said spinners are expected to possess greater control over their run-up and delivery stride than fast bowlers. He argued that overstepping the crease in T20 cricket is an avoidable mistake that can significantly alter the course of a match. The former cricketer noted that every delivery in T20 cricket is crucial, and conceding a no-ball not only gives away an extra run but also awards the batting side a free hit, increasing pressure on the bowling team. He stressed that bowlers must maintain discipline and execute the basics consistently. Sivaramakrishnan’s comments come amid growing scrutiny of bowling standards in T20 cricket, with experts emphasizing the importance of accuracy, discipline, and game awareness in the fast-paced format.
