Jubin Nautiyal Wins Personality Rights Protection from Delhi HC

DIVYA DELHI : The Delhi High Court has granted interim protection to singer Jubin Nautiyal, restraining unauthorised use of his name, voice, vocal style, image and likeness. In an order dated February 19, Justice Tushar Rao Gedela directed multiple AI platforms, websites and e-commerce portals to stop cloning his voice, mimicking his singing style, or creating digital avatars and deepfake content without consent. The court also ordered blocking and removal of links and applications violating his personality rights. Nautiyal had alleged misuse of generative AI tools to create synthetic voice models, face morphing content and unauthorised chatbots based on his persona. Observing that the damage to his reputation appeared “real and present,” the court said he had made a strong prima facie case and restrained infringers from exploiting his identity across digital platforms, including social media and the metaverse.
