DIVYA DELHI : Lyricist Javed Akhtar has said he refused to write songs for Border 2, criticising the trend of remixing old hits. Speaking to India Today, Akhtar called the reuse of iconic songs “creative and intellectual bankruptcy” and urged filmmakers to create original music instead of relying on nostalgia. He said every film belongs to its own era and its magic cannot be recreated, adding that revisiting past glory reflects an inability to create something fresh. His remarks come amid mixed reactions to Border 2’s soundtrack, which heavily reworks songs from the 1997 original.
