Iran Tells UN It Will Respond Decisively to Military Aggression

DIVYA DELHI : Tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated as Donald Trump deployed warships, ighter jets, and other military hardware to the Middle East, citing concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. In response, Iran warned that U.S. bases, facilities, and assets would be “legitimate targets” if Washington carries out military action. Amir Saeid Iravani sent a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council, calling Trump’s threats “belligerent” and urging a cessation of “unlawful threats of the use of force.” The letter stressed that Iran remains committed to diplomacy over its nuclear program but warned that any attack would be met with defensive strikes on U.S. regional assets. Trump has set a 15-day deadline for Iran to reach a deal, citing potential military action if negotiations fail. This follows earlier Geneva talks between U.S. envoys and Iranian diplomats, and comes after last year’s 12-day conflict triggered by Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
