Divya Delhi : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening India-UK economic ties. Piyush Goyal announced that the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has officially come into force, marking a major milestone in bilateral trade relations between the two countries. The announcement was made following the implementation of the agreement in July 2026. The agreement applies to trade and economic exchanges between India and the United Kingdom. The FTA aims to boost bilateral trade, increase investment opportunities, reduce tariffs on key goods, and create jobs while strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations. Speaking about the development, Goyal credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and sustained diplomatic efforts for helping finalize the landmark agreement. The FTA is expected to benefit exporters, manufacturers, and service providers in both countries by improving market access and easing trade barriers. Officials believe the pact will significantly enhance economic growth and deepen the India-UK strategic partnership in the years ahead.
