Divya Delhi : Health experts have cautioned people with diabetes to take extra care when storing insulin during the monsoon season, as high humidity and fluctuating temperatures can reduce the medicine’s effectiveness. Insulin should be kept within the recommended temperature range and protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and freezing. Doctors warn that leaving insulin in hot vehicles, near windows, or in humid environments without proper storage may damage the medication, leading to poor blood sugar control. Patients are advised to use insulated bags while travelling and regularly check insulin for changes in colour, clarity, or consistency before use. Medical professionals also recommend following the manufacturer’s storage guidelines and consulting a healthcare provider if there is any doubt about the quality of the insulin. Proper storage is essential to ensure insulin remains effective and helps prevent diabetes-related complications during the humid monsoon months.
