Habitual Offender Arrested With Illegal Knife in Mangol Puri, Arms Act Case Registered

Divya Delhi : Delhi Police arrested a 43-year-old habitual offender with an illegal button-actuated knife during routine patrolling in the Mangol Puri area. The accused, identified as Surjeet, a resident of Mangol Puri, has a long criminal history with multiple cases of robbery, theft, and offences under the Arms Act registered against him. According to the police, a patrol team from Raj Park Police Station, comprising Head Constable Yogendra and Constable Jitender, was conducting routine area patrolling on July 13. When the team reached B-Block Park in Mangol Puri, they noticed a man behaving suspiciously. On seeing the police personnel, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended after a brief pursuit. During the personal search of the accused, police recovered an illegal button-actuated knife. Following the recovery, FIR No. 414/2026 was registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Raj Park Police Station, and the weapon was seized as per legal procedure. Police verification revealed that Surjeet has been involved in 10 previous criminal cases, including robbery, theft, and Arms Act violations. He has also been declared a Bad Character (BC) by Raj Park Police Station. Police said further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused was involved in any other criminal activities.
