Divya Delhi : External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has called for deeper cooperation between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), emphasizing the need for stronger partnerships to address global uncertainty and emerging regional challenges. Speaking during the ASEAN-related meetings in Manila, Jaishankar highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration in trade, connectivity, maritime security, digital innovation, supply chains, and sustainable development. He stated that closer India-ASEAN ties are essential for ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. The External Affairs Minister reaffirmed India’s commitment to its Act East Policy and its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. He stressed that stronger regional cooperation would help both sides effectively respond to geopolitical developments, economic challenges, and global disruptions. Jaishankar also underscored the importance of maintaining a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific while encouraging greater people-to-people exchanges and economic engagement. The discussions are expected to further strengthen India’s strategic partnership with ASEAN member nations.
