Divya Delhi : The southwest monsoon finally made its onset over Delhi on Thursday, bringing widespread thunderstorms, strong winds, and very heavy rainfall across several parts of the national capital. The much-awaited rains provided significant relief from the prolonged spell of intense heat and humidity that had gripped the city over the past few weeks. Several areas of Delhi-NCR experienced heavy downpours accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 60 kmph, leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion, and disruptions in daily life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued alerts for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, urging residents to remain cautious while commuting. According to weather officials, the monsoon arrived in Delhi nearly five days later than its normal onset date. The active monsoon conditions are expected to continue over the next few days, with forecasts indicating more spells of rain, lightning, and strong winds across the region. Authorities have advised people to avoid waterlogged areas and stay updated with weather warnings. While the rains have brought much-needed respite from soaring temperatures, officials remain alert to the possibility of localized flooding and travel disruptions in the coming days.
