Divya Delhi : The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a petition concerning environmental activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk, after the petitioner argued that Wangchuk was engaging in “harakiri” by continuing his course of protest, raising concerns over his health and well-being. During the hearing, the petitioner urged the court to intervene, claiming that the activist’s actions could endanger his life. Taking note of the submissions, the High Court agreed to hear the matter and sought to examine the issues raised in the petition in accordance with the law. The case is linked to Wangchuk’s ongoing protest over issues concerning Ladakh, including demands related to constitutional safeguards, environmental protection, and local governance. The court, however, did not make any observations on the merits of the petition at this stage. The matter is expected to come up for further hearing, where both sides will present their arguments before the court decides on the appropriate course of action.
