DIVYA DELHI : Andhra Pradesh Cyclone Murasu made landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall that disrupted normal life across several coastal areas. The storm has reportedly caused significant damage to agricultural fields, with standing crops affected by strong winds, waterlogging and excessive rainfall. Farmers in vulnerable coastal districts have faced losses as paddy, horticultural crops and other seasonal produce were damaged. Several low-lying agricultural areas were inundated, raising concerns over further losses if water remains stagnant for an extended period. Farmers have sought immediate assessment of the damage and support from the administration. The cyclone also affected transportation services, with reports of disruptions on roads and other routes in areas experiencing intense weather conditions. Fallen trees, waterlogged stretches and strong winds created difficulties for commuters and forced authorities to take precautionary measures in vulnerable locations. Local administration and disaster-response teams have been monitoring the situation and working to clear affected roads and restore essential services. Residents in coastal and low-lying areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow official safety instructions. Authorities are expected to conduct detailed assessments once weather conditions improve. The extent of agricultural and infrastructure damage will become clearer after field-level inspections. The cyclone has once again highlighted the vulnerability of Andhra Pradesh’s coastal communities, particularly farmers and residents living in low-lying areas, to severe weather events.
