Divya Delhi : On the occasion of World Chess Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated the state’s rich chess heritage and reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting the sport at every level. He said Tamil Nadu has earned global recognition as India’s chess capital by producing several world-class players and nurturing young talent. In his message, the Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of renowned grandmasters and emerging players from the state, emphasizing that chess has become an integral part of Tamil Nadu’s sporting identity. He credited the dedication of players, coaches, parents, and sports institutions for the state’s continued success on the international stage. The Chief Minister assured that the government would continue investing in infrastructure, training programmes, and grassroots initiatives to identify and support aspiring chess players. He also encouraged young people to take up the game, describing chess as a sport that develops strategic thinking, discipline, and decision-making skills.
